ARGAN OIL

Under the hot south moroccan sun grows an ancient tree filled with history, culture and centuries of tribal tradition.

The argan tree – Arganosa spinosa – is the endemit. Despite attempts to export and grow the argan tree in other areas worldwide, the region surrounding Essaouira and Agadir is the only place in the world the argania spinosa grows. The tree plays a key ecological role in protecting the area from desertification and soil erosion. Given its ability to survive the region’s hot climate with temperatures that climb to +50 ºC ( because of the deep roots), the tree produces a fruit that is harvested each spring and cold-pressed to create the oil.

Used by Amazigh - the local people of Morocco, argan oil today is popular as a beauty treatment since ancient times.

The Argan oil,-Moroccan beauty potion is a precious ally for skin and hair. The secret has been kept for a long time by moroccan women. This « gold liquid of Morocco’ (due to its dark amber colour) has the advantage of nourishing hair, skin ,dry hands and brittle nails.
